Round 1 & 2 Australian Supercross track builds Brisbane QLD 2024
Protraxx successfully constructed Rounds 1 and 2 Australian Supercross tracks over the weekend at Redcliff’s stadium in Brisbane, QLD,
Navigating several challenges along the way. Initially, we faced a significant setback due to heavy rainfall, which delayed the build by a day. However, our dedicated team rallied together and adapted swiftly, delivering a great supercross track that met the expectations of both riders and fans alike.
One of the most discussed elements of Saturday night’s Round 1 was the size of the whoops, which were notably larger and peakier than those typically seen in previous events.
This design choice created a dividing line among the riders, with only a select few able to master the technical challenge and skim smoothly across the tops.
Protraxx Director Josh Proctor explained that these whoops were constructed using a loader, a decision made to expedite the build process.
With limited time due to weather disruptions, this allowed one track builder to handle the whoops, freeing up others to focus on terrain preparation and other crucial aspects of the track.
Following the feedback from athletes and teams, we made the decision to rebuild the whoops for Round 2 on Sunday, which helped to mellow out the peakiness.
This alteration sparked further debate in the pits, as the adjustments brought the field closer together and intensified the competition.
Overall, despite the initial complications, we are extremely satisfied with the results of the weekend’s events. The hard work and commitment of our team truly shone through.
The AusX team put together 2 great events and it was a lot of fun working with them to provide their tracks,
We are looking forward to Round 3 in a few weeks time at WIN Stadium in Wollongong NSW, we have another great track layout planned and it should be another good weekend of racing.
