Protraxx Wraps Up MXGP of Australia 2026 in Darwin

Protraxx has wrapped up another huge MXGP of Australia at Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex in Darwin, following a demanding week of track preparation and maintenance for the final round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Returning for the second year, the MXGP of Australia brought the world’s best motocross riders back to the Northern Territory from September 18–20, with Protraxx once again behind the preparation and maintenance of the purpose-built Hidden Valley motocross track.

The Darwin track, originally designed by Protraxx for the Australian MXGP, was created to international standards and has quickly established itself as a unique stop on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar. The original design features 22 corners, 21 jumps and a 90-metre start straight, with a 70% sand and 30% clay surface blend.
Battling the Darwin Conditions
The 2026 event presented another major challenge for the Protraxx crew.
Extreme heat, strong winds and the Top End conditions made moisture management a constant battle. Keeping water in the track and keeping dust under control required the crew to work long hours and push through the nights to have the track ready for each new day of racing.

It was a massive effort from the entire Protraxx team, with the conditions demanding constant attention to watering, preparation and maintenance.
By Sunday, Hidden Valley was bathed in sunshine for a full day of racing as the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship season came to its conclusion. Jeffrey Herlings completed a 1–1 result in MXGP, while Romain Febvre finished second overall and Tom Vialle completed the podium. Guillem Farres was also crowned the 2026 MX2 World Champion in Darwin.

For Protraxx, seeing the world’s best riders racing on a track our team helped create — and knowing what went into presenting it under demanding Darwin conditions — made the weekend incredibly rewarding.
More Than Just the Track
MXGP Darwin was also a big weekend for Protraxx away from the racing.
The Protraxx activation under the race truck became a place for kids and families to stop, have some fun and get involved throughout the weekend.

A huge thank you goes to our partners Patrol, Thor, Michelin, Tiny Tracks and Digger Kits, along with all the guys and girls who spent time under the truck working with the kids and helping make the activation such a success.
The weekend also marked the event debut of the Protraxx Shop, bringing together products from our industry partners alongside our own Protraxx merchandise and new kids’ range.

The complete range is available through Protraxx Shop.
Proud to Play Our Part in World Championship Motocross
The opportunity to design, build, prepare and maintain tracks at the highest level of international motocross is something our team never takes for granted.
From the operators putting in the hours through the heat and wind, to our partners, event organisers, riders, teams and everyone behind the scenes — delivering an MXGP takes an enormous collective effort.

We’re incredibly proud of our crew and what they delivered in Darwin.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Protraxx truck, supported the Protraxx Shop, spoke with our crew or simply enjoyed the racing.
Another MXGP of Australia done.
Darwin, you were a battle — but a bloody good one.
Bring on the next one.
